This post is the written companion to my comeback video and explains why I left, what changed, and how I’m moving forward differently.

Why I Took a Long Break From Social Media (and Why It Was Necessary)
This must be one of the longest break I’ve ever taken from posting online. And it wasn’t accidental.
After more than a decade of content creation, I felt overstimulated, overwhelmed, and misaligned. I no longer had the same energy I did when I started 12–13 years ago, and forcing myself to keep up with constant output stopped making sense.
During this time:
I processed major personal changes (like my breakup and navigating singleness)
I went through therapy for over a year
My faith became more central in my life
My priorities shifted
Stepping away helped me reconnect with who I am now, not who I used to be online.
Why I’m Switching to Monthly YouTube Updates I Can Actually Maintain
Instead of pushing myself to post constantly, I’m committing to one YouTube video per month.
Each monthly update will cover:
Beauty
Hair
Fashion
Lifestyle
This structure allows me to:
show up consistently without burning out
give real updates instead of rushed opinions
hold myself accountable in a realistic way
This is me reclaiming my corner of the internet: slower, calmer, and intentional.
What’s Changed in My Skincare Routine and Why I’m Finally Sticking to It
My skincare routine hasn’t completely changed, and that’s because it’s solid.
I’ve learned that consistency matters more than constantly adding new products.
Why I Added an LED Mask to My Routine
One of the biggest additions to my routine is an LED mask I’ve been testing since September.
What I like about it:
lightweight silicone material
molds comfortably to the face and under the chin (where I have hyperpigmentation)
doesn’t feel heavy or restrictive for consistent use
Does an LED Mask Help With Hyperpigmentation?
For me, the most noticeable result wasn’t instant glow. It was how much better my skincare products absorb after using it.
I deal with:
hormonal breakouts every month
post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
ingrown hairs around the chin area
The LED mask supports healing and makes the rest of my routine more effective. That alone made it a game changer.
What Products I Added (and Why)
I removed products that weren’t working and kept the ones I’ve trusted for years.
New additions:
a retinol serum to ease back into retinoids (find it here)
a serum targeting hyperpigmentation (find it here)
This monthly format allows me to track long-term results, not just first impressions.
Why Body Skincare Has Become My Biggest Focus Lately
Body skincare is where I’ve seen the most noticeable changes recently.
After a few months of consistency, I noticed:
smoother skin
fewer ingrown hairs
reduced underarm hyperpigmentation
slower hair regrowth (even my aesthetician noticed)
What Helped Reduce Ingrown Hairs and Underarm Hyperpigmentation
The biggest shift was treating body skincare like face skincare.
I introduced:
salicylic-acid-based body wash (find it here)
matching body cream (find it here)
a structured routine instead of random use
How Long Body Skincare Actually Takes to Show Results
Body skin is thicker and slower to respond. For me, visible changes took 4–6 months.
The confidence shift that comes with those changes is very real. Especially going into summer.
Why Keeping My Hair Stretched Helped It Grow Healthier Than Ever
Hair has always been a major topic for me, and my approach has changed a lot.
I’ve been doing texture releases for about two years and am now back to a once-per-quarter, root-only routine.
Why I Chose Texture Release Instead of Constant Heat Styling
Keeping my hair stretched:
reduced breakage
made maintenance easier
helped with length retention
improved my relationship with my hair
Ironically, when I stopped fighting my hair, it started growing.
What to Know If You’re Attached to Your Curl Pattern
Texture release can slightly loosen curl patterns in some areas.
I’m personally okay with that. But if your curl pattern is very important to you, it’s something to consider carefully.
For me, comfort and consistency mattered more than preserving a specific texture identity.
How I Use Protective Styles Without Losing Length or Identity
I don’t wear my hair fully out all the time.
I rotate protective styles from HerGivenHair like their:
clip-ins (find it here)
half wigs (find it here)
bob wigs (find it here)
Why I Prefer Clip-Ins and Natural-Looking Extensions
I prefer styles that:
don’t require glue
blend naturally with my hair
still look like me
These have helped me protect my length without sacrificing comfort or identity.
How My Relationship With Fashion Shifted Toward Quality and Comfort
Fashion is no longer about trends for me.
My priorities now are:
comfort
timeless silhouettes
quality materials
Why I’m Shopping Less but Loving My Clothes More
I’m intentionally buying fewer items and choosing pieces I’ll wear for years instead of one season.
This shift feels calmer and more aligned with how I actually live.
Why Knitting Became My Creative Outlet and Ties Back to My Childhood Dream
Knitting became my creative outlet over the past year.
I make:
cardigans
sweaters
socks
tank tops
- …
Using natural fibers like wool, alpaca, and silk, my goal is to create pieces that look store-bought, not “handmade.”
How Making My Own Clothes Changed How I View Fashion
Knitting reconnects me with a childhood dream of becoming a fashion designer and helps me slow down after long workdays.
It’s creative, grounding, and deeply satisfying.
How Faith, Therapy, and Slowing Down Changed How I Show Up Online
Beauty, hair, and fashion only matter if they align with real life.
Over the past few years:
therapy helped me understand patterns and triggers
my faith became central and my compass
I stopped chasing an online identity that didn’t fit anymore
Why I No Longer Create Content Just to Keep Up
I don’t create content for visibility alone anymore.
I care more about alignment: when my life, values, and output actually match.
What Alignment Means to Me Now
Faith for me isn’t about rituals at all, it’s about living in a way that reflects what I believe.
If something doesn’t align, I pause. And that’s what this comeback represents or feels like.
